The Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana held its 4th Annual Christmas Turkey Giveaway on Dec. 14 at the old Campti Museum/City Bank Building. The event included the gifting of 100 turkeys, 300 cans of corn, green beans, sweet peas, boxes of sweet potatoes, and a variety of canned food and staples in a record two hours time.
The event, sponsored by Principal Chief Fred Simon, and the Humanitarian Committee, included the participation of Chief Fred Simon, Council Chief and Campti resident Peggy LeBrun Smith, as well as Council Chief Frank Perot, and volunteers Destiny and Mike. The event is held every year as an outreach of Chief Fred Simon and the Humanitarian Committee to the local community.
