Parish Council meeting: February 18

The Natchitoches Parish Council met on Feb. 18 to pass the following agenda items:

Resolutions:

Approve Resolution-003-2025 authorizing the signing of the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire for the Audit of the Natchitoches Parish Government for the year ending December 31, 2024.

Approve Resolution-004-2025 authorizing the Parish President to submit a CWEF Application for 2024-2025 Grant Funds for the water main extension along Neull Williams Road in order to provide potable water services for up to six households in the amount of $100,000. LGAP application for the Parish of Natchitoches in the amount of $100,000. The Parish will ask for funds above the maximum ceiling amount and can be awarded if the parish’s incorporated communities’ combined maximum ceiling amounts are less than the allocation for the entire parish area. Authorize the Parish President to execute and sign all necessary agreements.

12. Other Agenda Items:

Approve appointing John Thompson Jr. to the Natchitoches Fire District 1 Board, due to resignation of Travis Brossette.

Authorize funding for FAUNA, an LLC formed by the consolidation of the Natchitoches Humane Society and Natchitoches Hope for Paws, in the amount of $60,000. This funding amount will be made in the amounts of $10,000 (consolidated amounts of the annual $5,000/each contribution to the Natchitoches Humane Society and Natchitoches Hope for Paws) and $50,000 for partial funding of urgent animal safety infrastructure projects at both current organizations’ facilities.

Approve the 2025 Opioid Funding Requests: Natchitoches Parish District Attorney in the amount of $10,000; Tenth Judicial District Adult Drug Court in the amount of $50,000; Tenth Judicial District Juvenile Drug Court in the amount of $25,000.

Approve bin site lease agreement for Darrell and Patricia Rogue for $2,000 dollars.

Discuss Ordinance-024-2024 that was vetoed by the Parish President. Updates will come after further discussions with the Parish President.
