
Join the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. for a special presentation, Lunchtime Lagniappe: Women in the Cammie G. Research Center Collections.
Donna Baker, Archivist and Records Officer at the Cammie G. Henry Research Center (CGHRC) at Watson Library, will explore the lives and contributions of some of Louisiana’s most influential women. Featured figures include Cammie G. Henry, Thelma Kyser, Caroline Dormon, and Irma DeBlieux Sompayrac Willard. Baker will also discuss the network of women represented in the center’s holdings, such as those from women’s organizations, NSU staff, faculty and alumni, and Clementine Hunter.
This event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a learning experience.

The Cammie G. Henry Research Center is dedicated to preserving and sharing documents and materials related to the history and culture of Natchitoches, a community founded in 1714 by the French. The Research Center, named after Carmelite “Cammie” Garrett Henry, a renowned collector of Louisiana’s historical documents, continues her mission to showcase rare works. Other significant collections housed at CGHRC include those of James Aswell, the Cloutier Family, Robert DeBlieux, Caroline Dormon, Joe Dellmon, the Egan Family, and the Federal Writers’ Project.
