Wanted Natchitoches man arrested during traffic stop

A traffic stop has led to the arrest of a wanted Natchitoches man that resulted in the seizure of illegal narcotics and a firearm on March 31 at approximately 7:36 pm. Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau were patrolling on Hwy. 494, south of Natchitoches, when they stopped a 2017 Buick LaCrosse for a traffic violation.

A male quickly exited the vehicle replying that he was going to call his mother, while a female exited the passenger side of the vehicle walking directly to the rear. Deputies smelled a strong marijuana smoke odor coming from the vehicle. Deputies identified the unlicensed driver of the vehicle, as 20-year-old Javarius Jashun Rabon of Natchitoches.

A local warrants check revealed Rabon was wanted by the 10th Judicial District Court for Failing to Appear in Court for 2-counts of Possession of Marijuana, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of CDS I Ecstasy, Resisting an Officer, Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. Rabon also had an outstanding warrant through Natchitoches City Court.

Rabon was placed under arrest without incident.

NPSO narcotics detection K-9 “Roka” and her handler, Sgt. A. Llorence were summoned to the scene.
“Roka” alerted to the vehicle for the presence of a narcotic odor. A search of the vehicle was conducted based on probable cause and the K-9 alert. During the search, deputies discovered a small amount of suspected marijuana, 23-suspected ecstasy tablets, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded Springfield 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

Javarious Jashun Rabon, 20, of Natchitoches was transported and booked in LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS I Marijuana, Possession of CDS I Ecstasy with Intent to Distribute, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substance.

In addition, he is charged with the 10th Judicial District Court Bench Warrant for 2-Counts of Possession of Marijuana, Illegal Possession of a Firearm during a Narcotics Offense, Possession of CDS I Ecstasy, Resisting an Officer, Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling.

A hold has also been placed for Natchitoches City Court. The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics analysis. The investigation remains active and ongoing. The female was released pending further investigation.
