City announces construction on Woodyard Drive, East Fifth Street

The City of Natchitoches announces upcoming construction work on Woodyard Drive and East Fifth Street.

On or around Monday, Sept. 29 pavement removal and base reconstruction work will begin on a 1,200-linear foot section of Woodyard Drive beginning approximately 0.2 mile east of South Drive and extending eastward to the end of the concrete curb-and-gutter section near the intersection of Ouida Drive. This work is expected to take approximately five days to complete, weather permitting.

While this work is ongoing, motorists can expect temporary short-term road closures and are therefore encouraged to detour around the work site via Abbie Drive and Saida Street.

On or around Wednesday, Oct. 1 pavement removal work will begin on the section of East Fifth Street from a point just north of the Bienville Street intersection to Royal Street. While this work is ongoing, two-way, one-lane traffic will be maintained by use of flaggers.

The pavement removal operation will be followed by base reconstruction work that is anticipated to be performed during the evening hours on Friday, Oct. 3 and on Saturday, Oct. 4. While the base reconstruction work is ongoing, this section of East Fifth Street will be CLOSED to ALL traffic.

The base reconstruction work will be followed by placement of new asphalt surfacing on both streets during the week of Oct. 6.

This work is part of the City of Natchitoches 2025 Street Rehabilitation Program. The contractor is Apeck Construction, LLC of Anacoco.
