The family of Lydia Rachal, along with the gospel group The Amazing! Rhythm Disciples, will host a free Community Appreciation Concert this Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. on the downtown Riverbank as part of the Natchitoches Christmas Festival’s gospel night.
The concert is intended as a “thank you” to the community for its overwhelming support of Lydia and her family. Community members previously came together to help raise the $3.8 million needed for Lydia and other children affected by Sanfilippo syndrome to receive treatment that could save their lives.
Organizers said the evening will focus on praising God and celebrating the compassion and generosity shown throughout the community. The event is not a fundraiser, and residents are encouraged to attend simply to wish Lydia and her family a Merry Christmas and to share in the joy of what organizers described as a miracle.
