SMS Girls powerlifting team competes at Pickering mini meet

The St. Mary’s Girls Powerlifting Team competed at the Pickering Mini Meet on Friday, Jan. 9 earning multiple top finishes and showcasing strong performances across all lifts.

Ninth grader Ady Rhodes recorded a squat of 210 pounds, a bench press of 100 pounds, and a deadlift of 245 pounds for a total of 555 pounds, earning a second-place finish in her division.

Sophomore Gracie Watson posted a squat of 205 pounds, a bench press of 100 pounds, and a deadlift of 220 pounds for a combined total of 525 pounds, securing first place.

Junior Rayanna Northsworthy completed a perfect meet, going 9-for-9 on her lifts. She recorded a 200-pound squat, a 110-pound bench press, and a 265-pound deadlift for a total of 575 pounds, finishing in second place.

Junior Alyssa Brewton earned first place with a strong overall performance, lifting 245 pounds in the squat, 155 pounds in the bench press, and 315 pounds in the deadlift for a total of 715 pounds.

The SMS Girls Powerlifting Team is led by Head Coach Nikki Brewton, with assistant coaches Travis “T-Bird” Brewton and Tara Smith.
