The Natchitoches Parish Clerk of Court’s office continued to be busy for the month of January with oil and gas recordings. Parish Clerk of Court David Stamey said the office recorded 39 leases for January 2026 to go with the 405 that the office received for the year of 2025.
“The activity continues to be mostly in the western portion of the parish with this group of leases being along La. Highway 6 West from Hagewood to the parish line and also close to Posey Road, on Shady Grove Road, near Collins Road, east of Marthaville and near Robeline,” Stamey said. “Production continues in several portions of north Natchitoches Parish.”
The transition from leasing activity to actual production in portions of north Natchitoches Parish marks a significant milestone, providing concrete evidence that sustained leasing efforts are translating into active drilling and development operations.
The combined total of 444 leases filed since January 2025 positions Natchitoches Parish as one of Louisiana’s most active leasing markets. With production now underway in multiple areas and leasing activity maintaining its pace, 2026 appears positioned to build on the momentum established throughout 2025.
Landowners approached with lease offers are strongly encouraged to seek counsel from qualified oil and gas attorneys before signing. Mineral leases can have long-term consequences for royalty structures, surface rights and future development activity.
A review of Natchitoches Parish Clerk of Court records confirms the 39 leases filed in January 2026. The NPJ obtained this information directly from the parish’s online Public Records system.
