Young at Heart holds February luncheon

Monthly Young at Heart luncheons for seniors resumed on Feb. 4 at the First United Methodist Church.

Local musician Michael Rorex, the church’s Chancel Choir Director, headlined the event. He spoke to the group about his love for music that began at the age of 7, gave witness to his spiritual journey in life, and performed several of his moving arrangements of Gospel songs on the piano, concluding with “He Touched Me.”

January/February birthdays are being celebrated by Judy Ashcraft, Linda Rigsby, Bennie Rhodes, and Pat Megason. Bennie Rhodes is also celebrating her wedding anniversary.

Harvey Polk served as Master of Ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. Valentine table decorations were provided by the church’s Koinonia Circle.

Young at Heart meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 11 AM in Bostick Hall (enter through doors under the bell tower). The meeting is non-denominational, and all community seniors are invited to come and enjoy the entertainment, food, and fellowship. Attendees are asked to pay a $5 fee or to bring a covered dish to share. The next meeting is scheduled for March 4.
