Braylee Johnson, Brenyn Wilson, Rachel Key and Khloe Kaufman earned first place in Division II at the Northern Regional Food Challenge, qualifying the team to compete in the Louisiana 4-H Food Challenge in May.
The competition challenges teams of four 4-H members to create a dish using a designated key ingredient along with items selected from a provided “grocery store” of additional ingredients. Participants must work together to develop a healthy dish while demonstrating proper food safety, food preparation techniques and teamwork.
After preparing their dish, teams present their creation to a panel of judges and answer questions that test their culinary skills and knowledge of nutrition.
With their regional win, the team will advance to represent the region at the state-level Louisiana 4-H Food Challenge later this spring.
