Natchitoches Police Department officers were dispatched on March 13 around 11:09 am to the 500 block of Texas Street in reference to juveniles possessing firearms in the area. Upon officers’ arrival they attempted to make contact with the juveniles, but they fled on foot toward the Highland Park neighborhood. After a lengthy foot pursuit officers were able to catch one of the juveniles and place them under arrest without incident near Rowena Street.
Officers located a firearm that the suspect threw on the ground while attempting to elude arrest and another firearm from a residence during a search warrant after being placed under arrest. Both recovered guns were reported to be stolen. They were reported stolen through the Shreveport Police Department and the Natchitoches Police Department. The recovered firearms will be sent to the crime lab for ballistic and forensic testing.
The juvenile is charged with two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a juvenile and simple possession of marijuana. They were placed in a juvenile detention facility in Jackson Parish.
This case is still under investigation and further charges are pending.
