Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office to auction unclaimed horse

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a public auction later this month to sell an unclaimed horse seized under a writ issued by the 10th Judicial District Court.

The sheriff’s sale is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse, located at 200 Church Street in Natchitoches. The auction will take place on the first floor in the hallway outside the Sheriff’s Department Civil Office.

The animal listed for sale is described as a sorrel stud horse approximately 5 to 6 years old, with a blaze face, white stockings on the rear feet, and standing about 16 hands tall.

Individuals interested in inspecting the horse prior to the auction may do so between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, outside the front gates of the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center at 200 Edwina Drive near the vegetable stand.

The property will be sold for cash to the highest bidder without appraisal. Purchasers will have until 2 p.m. on the day of the sale to pay the full purchase amount using certified funds. Anyone planning to bid must submit a letter of credit from their financial institution to Felicia White at the sheriff’s office prior to the sale.
