The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of another text message scam circulating in our area.
Citizens have reported receiving messages claiming to be from the Louisiana Department of Safety & Homeland Security stating:
“Records indicate that your vehicle is presently associated with outstanding traffic violations.”
The message goes on to provide a payment deadline of March 21, 2026, and directs recipients to click a suspicious link: https://org.com-fliyq.top/pay
It further threatens enforcement actions such as suspension of registration, driving restrictions, and additional penalties if payment is not made.
This message is a SCAM.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections and law enforcement agencies will NOT contact you by text message demanding payment or directing you to unofficial websites.
Safety Tips to Protect Yourself:
- Do NOT click links in unsolicited text messages.
- Do NOT reply (even with “A” or any response)—this confirms your number is active.
- Verify directly by contacting the agency using official phone numbers or websites.
- Check the URL carefully—scammers often use fake or misspelled web addresses.
- Never provide personal or financial information via text or unknown links.
- Delete the message immediately after reporting it.
- Report the scam to your local law enforcement agency.
