Child airlifted to trauma center following medical emergency in Natchitoches Parish

A child was airlifted to a regional trauma center Monday night following a medical emergency in the Oak Grove area near Natchitoches, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 8 p.m., Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies and personnel from Natchitoches Regional Medical Center were dispatched by NATCOM 911 to the scene.

Emergency medical personnel arrived, assessed the child’s condition and, at the request of the family, called for air medical transport.

Air Evac Lifeteam responded and landed at a landing zone established by deputies in the Oak Grove area. The child was then transported by helicopter to a regional trauma center for further treatment.

Authorities said no additional details are being released.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office extended prayers to the child and family and expressed hope for a full recovery.
