Portions of Parc Natchitoches to close April 8-10 for pavement preservation work

The City of Natchitoches announces the closure of portions of Parc Natchitoches on Wednesday, April 8, through Friday, April 10, 2026, for pavement preservation work.

Beginning around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, both entrances into the Parc, including the main entrance from University Parkway and the rear entrance from Rue de Gabriel, will be temporarily closed to all traffic while a sealcoat is applied to the existing asphalt pavement on the roadway running through the Parc.  This roadway will be re-opened to traffic after the sealcoat cures, which should be around 10:00 a.m. that day.

Following application of the sealcoat on the roadway, the main parking lot located between the baseball complex and the soccer complex will be closed to all traffic for the remainder of the day on Wednesday, continuing into Thursday afternoon, April 9, for application and curing of the sealcoat in that area.  This parking lot will be re-opened to traffic by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, the small parking lot at the playground area near the main entrance to the Parc will be closed to all traffic for application of the sealcoat in that area, and this parking lot will remain closed until around noon on Friday, April 10, while the new sealcoat cures.

The sealcoat work is being performed by Corrective Asphalt Materials, a company based in South Roxana, Illinois, that performs pavement preservation work nation-wide.

The sealcoat application follows the recent patching of base failures throughout the Parc by the City of Natchitoches Public Works Department, and crack sealing work performed by Regional Construction, LLC, of Natchitoches, all of which is designed to extend the service life of the asphalt pavements throughout Parc Natchitoches.

The re-striping of parking spaces throughout the Parc is scheduled to be performed during the week of April 20.

The City of Natchitoches thanks the public for its patience and cooperation while this pavement preservation work is being completed.
