
Motorists traveling along Interstate 49 northbound near Derry were advised to use caution following a vehicle fire reported late Wednesday afternoon. According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 5:25 p.m. to a minor commercial vehicle fire near mile marker 117, just south of Derry.
Responding agencies included Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 1, which assisted at the scene. Authorities said traffic in the area was reduced to one lane as crews worked to manage the situation. Deputy Sgt. K. Padilla was on scene representing the sheriff’s office.
