  1. Please investigate the open burning off Keyser at the new Hobby Lobby site. Large trees are being burned daily and this causes smoke and ash to be blown into the neighborhoods and homes off St. Clair. This is a health hazard. It is very difficult for elderly citizens and children with respiratory problems to be outside because the smoke is unhealthy and causes or aggravates allergies and other breathing health problems. I have complained to the Natchitoches City Fire Chief whose office issued the burn permit and Councilman Harrington.

  2. This message is for the NPD and Mayor Posey. I am concerned about the woman who stands on street corners dressed skimpily, changing her clothes, changing her wigs, dancing vulgarly, talking to herself, making hand gestures at people in cars, and pretty much being an embarrassment to our lovely community. Why on earth is this allowed? It looks like something on the streets of New Orleans instead of our town. Why do the authorities who be allow this?

  3. This is really to Mayor Posey and the NPD…why is the woman, half dressed most days, allowed to stand on street corners and dance, change clothes, change her wigs, yell at cars, make hand gestures, and make our community look like something you would see on the street corners of New Orleans?

  4. Does anybody know anything about the helicopters flying over natchitoches tonight heading south? There’s been several in the last 15 minutes.

  5. I’m just wondering- why no taxi service in Natchitoches? Has there ever been such a thing? I can see lots of reasons for it and very few cons against it. Is this something that an individual or corporation would have to look at and decide to do independently? And yeah, I’m not from ’round these parts. Thanks!

    • There was a taxi service in Natchitoches about 20-25 yrs ago, it was on the back corner of 3rd and the street on the back side of the convention center, beside the old gas station at the bottom of the hill, down from ppls food warehouse… but it was about the time the drug ICE came into Natchitoches… and the ppl running it were bad on it…. it was more drug dealing then a Real Taxi device…. LOL… so it didn’t last long. And that is not a rumor. That is a fact. Other than that… I don’t know of one.

    • Can someone please explain to me why the parish roads are so terrible in Naucratis parish.US highway 119 had fallen into cane river in 2 places No one is working on either of these. We know we pay the taxes where’s the money folks

  6. Where can I obtain a copy of the Natchitoches Parish Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 5 Year Plan, as soon as possible for federal grant application purposes?

  7. This message is intended for Mr Kirk Soileau, I received a bill from the year 2016, I traveled through a strange medical issue, I throught was unfair and unjust, I will be in shortly to discuss this with you. Thanks!

  8. Can you find out more about the road closure on Hwy 119 in front of Magnolia Plantation? I live right past the closure on Hwy 484 and I commute to Alexandria every day for work. I contacted the DOT and they are very vague about the time frame. I was told “The slide that is not on state right-of-way has encroached upon the road to the point of forcing an emergency closure until a project can be bid. However, local traffic will have access during the closure.” Local traffic does not have access. I understand that the road needs to be repaired, but they need to at least give us a time frame.

  9. Two years ago I moved here and find that I dearly love Natchitoches. However, no place is perfect as no people is perfect. That being said, I have friends that live in the mobile home park on South Drive behind Lott Oil. Having been there several times, I am wondering why raw sewage is spilling out and laying in places near the homes. Is this not a public health issue? I have concern for the children who live and play here. I’ve
been told that the city sewer pipe is too small to move the sewage and therefore has been cutoff, literally, which leaves the sewage to flow into the yards. In my opinion the health of the children should be just as important as their education.
If there is someone who cares enough to fix this situation, please help these people. This is Natchitoches.

  10. I commented on a post 2 days ago. It was sent to the moderator. When I emailed and questioned about it, that was the response I got. My comment was never posted. I wonder how many others this is happening to? An opinion is opinion, and I stated mine, just like everyone else. If this is a public forum, then you don’t get to pick and choose , you post it whether you like it or not. BOTTOM LINE!!

  11. I’d like to know why all comments aren’t posted or edited before posting in regards to certain topics along with why peoples personal information isn’t properly edited before posted. I personally know two peoples comments on the bridge post were never made public.

  12. The Natchitoches parish journal is 100 % better then our local paper is or ever will be.I like it because the storys are better and up to date and also
the people of Natchitoches can voice there opinions. There is a lot that is good about our city and a lot that needs repair,it is always good to hear from the people.
keep up the great work !

  13. With fiber optics being put in up and down hwy 6, why can’t the village of Robeline get hi speed internet? They say it’s for the schools but we as tax payers are paying taxes for the schools. Does anyone know anything about this?

    • We talked to the guys that were installing it and they said that their company will also be offering their service to the public.

    • If grants are being used for fiber in the parish,I can’t see how anyone in the parish not being included–but like road taxes u can see where our tax money is being spent–
