NPSO Deputies arrest Many man on Felony Drug Charges during La. Hwy 6 West Traffic Stop


Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Many man on felony drug charges during a traffic stop near Robeline, La., on Monday evening according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday evening May 18th at approximately 10:25pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were patrolling on La. Hwy 6 West near Robeline, when they stopped a Honda Civic for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Steven J. Rushing, 31, of the 100 block of Ivanhoe Street,  Many,  La.

Deputies say during the traffic stop, they learned that Rushing’s drivers license was suspended and smelled a alcoholic beverage odor.

Deputies asked Rushing if he had been drinking in which he responded  “a beer and a margarita” awhile ago.

Deputies also observed suspected narcotics in plain view in the vehicle.

Deputies obtained permission to search the vehicle, seizing approximately 4.5 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine with a potential street value of $675.

Rushing was arrested and transported to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, booked and charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine-2nd Offense, Driving under Suspension, Open Container and traffic offenses.

Rushing  who remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond was convicted of a prior narcotics offense in 2009.

Rushing was traveling from Many, La. to Natchitoches.

Deputy J. Axsom was assisted by Reserve Deputy B. Solomon in the arrest.
