Governor John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards will preside over the dedication of the renaming of the rose garden at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion in honor and memory of the late Rose Landry Long Thursday, June 1 at 5:30 pm at 1001 Capital Access Road in Baton Rouge.
Rose passed away on April 30, 2017 after an 11-month battle with brain cancer. She was an inspiration to all.
God gave her peace, joy, and strength, and she shared that with others whenever she could. She could often be found seeking out and praying with strangers in cancer treatment waiting rooms. Even in her sickness, Rose always lit up the room and her joy and strength exuded, even when all she could do was smile and say, “Thank you.”
Rose and Gerald Long are wonderful friends of mine. I was so sad at her passing but God does not make mistakes. This is a great honor for a wonderful lady.
Rose will for ever be in my memory as a devoted servant to the Lord and a divine guidance for me.
I can think of no one more desirous of this prestigious recognition.
I can think of no one who is more deserving of this honor in Louisiana then our dear friend , Rose Long. Her whole life brought honor to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is a lovelyl memorial for Rose Long. She was a beautiful, caring, dedicated Christian lady, and I don’t know of anyone who didn’t love her. I just wish this could be televised so that the people who loved Rose so much in Natchitoches Parish could witness this dedication. I have to thank the governor for honoring Rose in this manner.
There were some live shots of the dedication on LPB’s “Louisiana: The State We’re In” today. Usually they air the episode twice in a week, but it appears they have stopped doing so.
