APHN shares Natchitoches history with 3rd grade students

The Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches (APHN) held its 25th Annual Third Grade Children’s Tour on Sept. 26-29. Seven sites were visited: Lemee House, Prudhomme – Rouquir (spelling-having trouble), Trinity Episcopal Church, the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest History Museum provided tours and APHN board member Toni Stroud presented a music and storytelling experience. In addition, third graders tasted mini meat pies provided by a local company. Students made meat pie souvenirs out of play-doh. At each site, 8th grade students in costumes performed as Natchitoches historical characters. The weather was good, the kids came from all over the city and parish, and fun was had by all.
