The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) will be hosting its first Folk Family Fun Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 AM – 1 PM. This free event will feature hands-on craft stations for adults and children, along with a live musical performance by “Andy & Judy” from 11 AM to 1 PM. Free refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the NPL. Attendees can get their hands dirty at the clay station, add to the community’s primitive painting on the “cave wall,” make a corn husk doll, and chill with a relaxing rock painting. No registration is required, so make plans to bring the family down to the NPL’s front lawn at 450 Second St. for a few hours of fun!
Musical artists and New England natives Andy & Judy Daigle have been singing together since 2009. Since then, they have recorded over 80 original songs and produced 7 albums. Andy & Judy continue to compose and produce new music as they find inspiration from the sometimes chaotic, sometimes breathtaking, but always interesting world around us. Andy & Judy do a masterful job of involving the audience in their performances, so the Folk Family Fun Day is sure to be a great time for attendees. After all, sing-a-longs and smiles are the norm at all their concerts.
Though their songwriting style has its roots firmly planted in traditional and folk music, the influences of country, gospel, blues, and bluegrass, can also be heard in their songs. This diversity of influences allows Andy & Judy to carefully craft and perform their songs so that the listener experiences all of the emotions woven into their music. As songwriters, they attempt to rekindle the sense of community and action which develops when folks get together and join in some good old-fashioned singin’.
