Beverly Broadway: NPSB District 9

My name is Beverly Broadway and I am excited to announce that I am seeking re-election to the Natchitoches Parish School Board District 9 seat.

I believe that investing in our children’s education is not only an investment in their individual lives, but also an investment in our community. During my time on the board, I have been blessed to play a role in the tremendous growth we have witnessed in the district and I know that there is more to come! I am excited to seek re-election because I believe that continuing to serve as the Natchitoches Parish School Board member for District 9 will allow me the opportunity to continue directly investing in our children and community while being a part of the continued growth through positive changes.

My husband, Dennis, and I have been married for 19 years and live in Robeline with our four children, ages 17, 16, 11, and 8. Each of our children have attended public school in Natchitoches Parish since entering kindergarten.

I graduated from Natchitoches Central in 1998 and continued my education at Northwestern State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2002 and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2007. After graduation, I taught for 7 years as an adjunct instructor for the department of psychology. In 2014, I was honored to accept the position as executive director of the Women’s Resource Center. I served in this position for four years before stepping down to teach full time as a university instructor. I am currently in my fifth year as a full-time instructor in the department of psychology where, in addition to teaching, I also work closely in advising students within our department, helping guide them toward success during their college years and helping them to prepare for success after graduation.

I am dedicated to the betterment of my community through serving others. I have been involved with the non-profit ministry, the Women’s Resource Center, for over 22 years in various capacities including volunteer, outreach coordinator, executive director, and now as a consultant. I am a former member of the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Patient and Family Advisory Council as well as the Natchitoches Parish School Board Parent Advisory Council. In addition to this, I have volunteered over 100 hours in Natchitoches Parish Schools.

During my time as a school board member, I received the following honors/recognitions:

  • Designated as a Certified Board Member (earning 20+ CE credits per year) for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021
  • Current Vice President of the School Board
  • Current Chairman of the School Board Policy Committee

Additionally, during this time, we have experienced tremendous growth and positive change within our school district. Some of the accomplishments include:

  • Over 2 million dollars invested in Marthaville Elementary/Junior High
    • New Playground Equipment
    • New Musical Instruments
    • Baseball Field Upgrades
    • New Parking Lot
    • Remodel and Upgrade of Elementary Building
    • New Gym Flooring in both the Old Gym and New Gym
    • Nurses Office Building Repair
    • And More!
  • Tremendous upgrades of Natchitoches Central facilities
  • Implementation, reintroduction, and/or strengthening of various arts programs at all schools
  • Natchitoches Parish is a 2022 Top Gains Parish for Academic Growth
  • Raises for ALL Teachers and Staff throughout the district
  • Increase in percentage of certified teachers
  • Continuing to improve communication between school district and families
  • Increased Emphasis on preparing students for College, Technical College, and Career Pathways

Upon re-election, I will continue to work as a true public servant. This will include increased efforts to effectively communicate with the members of District 9 and being available to address the needs of students and concerns of community members. I will continue to work collaboratively and effectively with all members of the school board for the betterment of our students. This will include a continued focus on financial transparency, emphasizing preparedness for a variety of post-graduation educational/career paths, and the inclusion of art, music, and play as important components of education for all children in our parish.

In closing, I would be honored if on November 8, you would vote for me, Beverly Broadway – #62, to continue serving as the Natchitoches Parish School Board member for District 9.
