BDJ Educational Center holds Cohort #1 Commencement Ceremony

The Ben D. Johnson Educational Center was overwhelmed with reasons to celebrate on Nov 3. They had eleven participants graduate from their new work readiness training program. The staff of the BDJ would like to express how proud they are of the graduates and can’t wait to see the impact they make in the local workforce. The Center also had participants graduate from the Industrial Readiness Training taught by Dr. Sherwood Young with the Bossier Parish Community College. Upon graduation, participants received their Industrial Readiness Training Program Certification, OSHA-10, Powered Industrial Truck Certification, Material Handling Certification, and their Lean Six Sigma: Yellow Belt Certification. The graduates were: Kendrick Turner, Alech Williams, Lekshia Willis, Tyron Levo, Travis Turner, Kevin Berryman, Michael Daniels, April Armstrong, Joshua Levo, Joseph Domars, Larenzo Lynch, and Quanisha Holmes.

The founder of the program, Claire Prymus and the program director Darrin Nixon had a few words of encouragement to share about the commencement ceremony. Ms. Prymus says, “I’ve been eagerly anticipating the restructuring of the program. I’m excited to see our graduates and follow their journey outside of graduation. I look forward to seeing them transform the community.” Mr. Nixon shared that “Graduation was exceptional. The joy in seeing our participants complete this milestone in their life is one like no other.” The participants showed up and put in the work and the staff is proud of them and ready to see where life takes them.
