Natchitoches Central Girl’s Soccer won their season opener against Bossier High School on Nov. 7. This year marks the second year that Eden Rodriguez serves as head coach along with Assistant Coach Ashley Fortenberry. One of the main objectives for the Lady Chiefs this season is to keep growing and building on the foundation built last year.
Coach Rodriguez stated, “Some of the girls participated in a summer league along with strength and conditioning to get them ready for this season. We have some excellent returners including Seniors Arianna Armstrong, Yanissa Beasley, Linda Ransfer, Chelsea Perritt, Natalie Molina, Claire Thompson, and Beth Anne Methvin. We’ve rounded out the team with some new freshmen, like Lila Robertson and Kennedi Solieau, who are ones to watch in the future.”
The Lady Chiefs participated in a couple of scrimmages over the weekend in the Play for Paws tournament in Alexandria. Their first home scrimmage against Bossier ended in an impressive 8 to 1 win over the Bearcats. Junior forward Ava Fatheree scored 2 goals; Sophomore midfielder Anna Hobart scored 1 goal and had 3 assists ; Freshman forward Lila Robertson scored 1 goal; and Senior forward Chelsea Perritt scored 1 goal.
The Lady Chiefs next scrimmage was held on Nov. 10, against Leesville High School at home. The Lady Chiefs first district game will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 pm against Caddo Magnet High School, also at home.
