Lady Demons sign local scoring guard

For the third time in the past three years Northwestern State women’s basketball is bringing one of the top players from Shreveport/Bossier to Natchitoches.
Head coach Anna Nimz announced the addition of Jermesha Friersonon Monday, a 5-foot-7 scoring guard from Southwood and the number four ranked player in Louisiana according to LGR Basketball.
Frierson burst onto the scene two seasons ago where she earned her first 1-5A All-District First-Team honor following her sophomore season.
She followed that year with a junior campaign that included another first-team all-district selection along with first-team all-state honors from the Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association and LGR Basketball.
Her 23.0 point, 6.0 rebound, 3.0 assist and 3.0 steal per game averages during her junior season also earned her first-team selections from the Shreveport Times and the Shreveport-Bossier Journal. The only first-team honor she did not receive was from the LSWA who placed her on the 5A second team.
In just two seasons for Southwood, Frierson has already eclipsed the 1,000-point mark and helped lead SHS to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs for the first time in five years.
Frierson is a Gold Renaissance Scholar off the court with a 4.0+ GPA, member of the National Honor Society, Southwood Principal’s List and Honor Roll.
She joins fellow Caddo/Bossier Parish products Jordan McLemore(Captain Shreve) and Kayla Hampton (Airline) as the latest Northwest Louisiana products to become Lady Demons.
