St. Mary’s Seniors Receive Honors For LHSAA All Academic Composite Team

Three senior student athletes from St. Mary’s Catholic School were selected as part of the 2022-23 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) All-State Composite Team for winter sports.  The LHSAA All-Academic Award Program recognizes the academic excellence of senior student athletes who have attained a 4.0 grade point average by placing them on the composite All-American Team.

Benjamin Reaves Hogg, Jr. is the son of Dr. Benjamin R. and Jamie Hogg.  He has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while taking honors and dual enrollment classes.  He has participated with multiple varsity sports teams, including golf, cross country, tennis and the Natchitoches Travel Soccer League.  While running with the cross country team, he was a second place district winner.  Reaves has been a two-year member of the National Honor Society, Student Council Executive Board, Cooking for a Cause and Natchitoches Leo Club.  He is also a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council for the City of Natchitoches.  As a four-year member of FBLA, he placed in the Mr. FBL category, publication design, as well as second and third places at state level competition.  Reaves has participated as a member of the Beta Club for four years, where he currently serves as President Elect.  He attended the District Beta Leadership Summit and received the Lead Outside The Box award.  He placed second at the Louisiana State Literary Competition in the subject of chemistry.  At the National History Day Regional Exhibit Competition, he was awarded first place honors.  Reaves plans to attend college in the fall and pursue a major in biomedical engineering.

Mason Cecil McCart is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon and Carmella McCart.  Carmella is a 1985 graduate of St. Mary’s.  Mason is the founder of Cooking for a Cause where he has served as president for three years.  Mason also serves as the National and Louisiana State Beta President.  He is now a three-year member of Beta.  He is a four-year member of Student Council and served as class vide-president and LASC District VII president for two years each and school executive board secretary for one year.  He is also a four-year member of FBLA where he currently achieved a 2x regional and state championship for current events.  He is a four-year member of Leo Club, a three-year member of FCA and a two-year member of both National Honor Society and the Yearbook.  SMS selected Mason as Student of the Year for the 2022-23 school year.  Mason served two years on the SMS varsity cheer team as mascot where he was awarded UCA All American.  He is also a six-year member of the SMS tennis team.  Mason is a three-year member of the St. Mary’s cross country team where he became district runner up his sophomore year as well as a member of the district championship team.  Mason plans to attend college and pursue a double major in marketing and film.  

Joseph Adam Parker is the son of Jason and Mandy Parker. Adam has maintained a 4.0, taking honors and dual enrollment classes, while playing varsity sports at St. Mary’s Catholic High School.  Adam is a four-year member of the varsity football team. He was LSWA and LFCA Class A all state honorable mention quarterback in 2020. He was name All district and All Cenla quarterback in 2020 and 2021. He was awarded All parish quarterback and offensive MVP in 2020.  He was selected to be on the cover and part of the North All-Louisiana First Team Offense for Louisiana Football Magazine in 2022. He was a Griffin’s player of the week in 2022.  He’s ranked #1 for Cenla Prep’s Central Louisiana top quarterbacks in 2022.  Adam was a top 10 outstanding player in Louisiana state all classes week 3 2022 for Gridiron football. He won top performer of the week honors multiple weeks in the Natchitoches, Shreveport and Alexandria areas in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Adam earned the offensive MVP on his select 7 on 7 Travel Team in 2022. Adam also plays on the varsity basketball team. He’s a member of National Honor Society, FCA/Pro-Life club, FBLA and Beta clubs.  He altar serves at school Masses and at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church.  Adam was named the 2022 Male High School Heisman Scholarship Winner for SMS. Adam plans to attend college and major in chemical engineering.
