NPSO: PURSUIT ENDS IN CAPTURE OF MAN THAT FLED FROM DEPUTIES WHILE HANDCUFFED LAST WEEK

A Rapides Parish man wanted by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office was captured on Wednesday morning after he led Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Natchitoches Police on a 30-mile pursuit according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

On Wednesday morning, Nov. 30, an off-duty Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputy spotted Bailey Goodman traveling in a black 2004 Cadillac Escalade in the City of Natchitoches.

Goodman was wanted by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office on outstanding criminal arrest warrants signed by a 10th Judicial District Judge for Domestic Abuse Battery, Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine, Simple Escape and 2-Counts of Resisting an Arrest in connection with a domestic incident on Sunday evening, November 20, 2022 at approximately 6:36pm in the 100 block of Lateral Road near Natchitoches.

During Goodman’s arrest in that incident, he jerked away from deputies while handcuffed behind his back and fled into a nearby field and woods. Deputies with the aid of the Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Team searched for Goodman for several hours but were unsuccessful in finding him.

Deputies then applied for criminal warrants for his arrest. Deputies attempted to stop Goodman on Wednesday morning with emergency lights on. Goodman refused to stop, striking an unmarked sheriff’s unit, then led deputies and Natchitoches Police on a pursuit down La. Hwy 1 through the communities of Natchez and Cypress.

Natchitoches Police discontinued while deputies continued the pursuit down La. Hwy 1 turning left on La. Hwy 493, then left on La. Hwy 484 westbound, to La. Hwy 494 crossing Shell Beach Bridge onto the Bermuda Road. During the pursuit Goodman avoided tire deflation devices deployed by deputies. Multiple units responded to assist and stage along La. Hwy 494 near Point Place.

The pursuit continued and ended near the intersections of Bermuda Road and La. Hwy 494 where the road was blocked with construction equipment working in the area. Goodman was taken into custody without incident. During a search of his person incidental to the arrest, deputies discovered suspected marijuana.

As a result:
Bailey D. Goodman, 25, of Flatwoods, La. was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Domestic Abuse Battery, Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine, 2-Counts of Resisting an Officer, Simple Escape, Flight From an Officer, Hit and Run, Traffic charges, Possession of CDS I Marijuana and Hit and Run.

Goodman remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond. The vehicle was impounded by a local wrecker service. There were no injuries.
