Law enforcement organization donates coats to Weaver Elementary

Members of Cane River Branch of Magnolia State Peace Officers Association presented a collection of coats and jackets to Weaver Elementary School on Dec. 13. Our mission is to provide free coats to children in need and a way to keep us connected to the community. We feel blessed to be able to provide these coats and know that a child in need will receive a warn coat this winter. Presenting the coats are Magnolia members Chief Nikeo Collins, LaQuita Collins, Vanessa Monroe, Krystal Williams, Paraprofessional Charmane Williams and Weaver Principal Ametrice Williams (accepting coats), members John Robertson and Sandra Williams.

Magnolia State Peace Officers Association is dedicated to Law Enforcement and Community Outreach. There are currently 13 Chapters in four Regions of the State. A training conference is held every year to provide training on connecting police to citizens.  Cane River Branch is a local branch comprised of local members of law enforcement concerned citizens of the community. The Chapter sponsors the local Zydeco Festival held every year Labor Day Weekend on the banks of the beautiful Cane River. Proceeds from this event are used to sponsor several community outreach programs such as:

• Shop with a Cop

• Fans to local Council on Aging

• Coat Drives for local schools

• Blankets and socks to local nursing homes

• Thanksgiving baskets to citizens in need
