Natchitoches Jr. High JAG members attended Northwestern State University’s Christmas GALA on Dec. 1. Students also conducted a campus tour of NSU and the QUAD Apartments.
JAG is currently working in the module of Independent Living (students are learning how to live independently). Students are in mock mode (19 yrs. old, working at Winn Correctional Center as a correctional officer). They’ve conducted a job search, constructed a resume’ and completed a job application. In the coming weeks, they will conduct mock interviews, search and apply for housing (at the Quad), and create a monthly budget.
The Jobs for America’s Graduates Middle School Program helps 6th to 8th graders successfully transition to the next grade and from middle to high school. Specialists implement counseling, skills development, career association, and experiential learning to improve academic performance, school behavior, attendance, confidence, participation and self-esteem. Middle School participants improve leadership and effective team member skills.
