The third grade class at NSU Elementary Lab School took a drive down the bayou to Baton Rouge! The social studies curriculum is rich in Louisiana Culture! Students had the opportunity to see this first hand in visiting the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion and the Louisiana Capitol Museum. They viewed things such as artifacts from Poverty Point, genuine mardi gras outfits, Louisiana purchase presentations and much more. The tour of the Governor’s mansion gave students an inside look into what government looks like on the state level. They concluded the day with a trip to the Louisiana Arts and Science museum where they were able to participate in hands-on science and STEAM activities. Before venturing back to Natchitoches, they took a stroll out on the Mississippi River Bank outlook. Thank you to the community members who donated snacks for the students! This was an experience the students will never forget!
