
A traffic stop on Monday evening, Feb. 28, around 10:12 pm led to the arrest of a north Natchitoches Parish man on traffic and weapon charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies were patrolling in Campti when they stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe on LeBrum Street for a traffic violation. Deputies identified the operator of the vehicle as Dakota Harvey, 34 of Campti.
During the traffic stop, deputies learned Harvey’s drivers license was suspended and that he was wanted by the Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office on two outstanding bench warrants. Harvey was arrested without incident. A local towing service was contacted to impound the vehicle.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, deputies discovered and seized a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun, and a box of 9mm ammunition. Harvey is classified as a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing any firearms.
Harvey, was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Driving under Suspension, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Felony and 2-Bench Warrants from Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office.
Harvey remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
