NCHS Orchestra Earns Sweepstakes Trophy

The Natchitoches Central High School Orchestra participated in the Louisiana Music Educators Association District IV Large Ensemble Assessment in Baton Rouge on March 16. Middle and high school orchestras from around the state performed at the event which was hosted by Baton Rouge Magnet High School.

The NCHS Orchestra performed three pieces, earning the highest scores possible and a sweepstakes trophy. The selections included Brandenburg Concerto II, “Allegro,” by J.S. Bach, Ashokan Farewell by Jay Ungar, and Contrasts in E minor by Francis L. Feese.

“The students have worked diligently over the past nine weeks to learn three challenging pieces. They represented their school with grace and decorum throughout the event. The entire NCHS family is proud of this well-deserved accomplishment.” -Lincoln Hall, Orchestra Director

The NCHS orchestra’s next performance will be its spring concert on Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30pm in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of Northwestern State University.
