Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 and some local farmers, stopped to assist a 4-foot alligator as it was attempting to cross Hwy. 486 (Campti Cut-Off) near the s-curves on April 4. The alligator moved on safely without incident. Alligator mating season in Louisiana begins in April and May. Motorists may begin to see them crossing roads or in areas not common during the next couple of months.
