Following an impressive showing in the 200-meters at the Bobcat Invitational, Maygan Shaw was named the Southland Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Shaw, a sophomore from Pineville, ran a 23.55 in the 200-meters, which is a personal best and the top time in SLC in the outdoor this season.
The time is more than a half-second better than second-place in the conference, teammate Vanessa Balde, and is 47th nationally.
It is her second such honor in her career, also winning one as a freshman in 2022.
If that wasn’t enough, she was a member of the 4×400 relay team at the Texas Relays which posted a 3:40.11, which ranks 10th in program history.
Shaw joins Djimon Gumbs as the Northwestern State athletes to earn outdoor honors this season.
After a week off, the track & field teams host their annual Leon Johnson Invitational on April 15 at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.
