As part of recent opioid settlements, billions are going to state and local governments to address the opioid crisis. The Natchitoches Parish Government received a total of $133,100. At the May 15 Parish Council meeting, members approved an agenda item to fund requests from the District Attorney’s Office Prosecution Diversion Program ($10,000), Tenth Judicial District Adult Drug Court ($70,000) and the Tenth Judicial District Juvenile Drug Court ($53,100) with the monies received from the Opioid Settlement. The funding of the individual entities will come back before the Parish Council to talk about again next year if more monies are made available.
