The Board of Control for the Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) is pleased to announce Mona Bamburg as the new Library Director. In her role, Mona will continue the library’s commitment to providing excellent customer service and quality material circulation and programming to meet NPL patrons’ informational, recreational, and educational needs.
Mona lives in Natchitoches and has been a patron of the NPL for over forty years. She graduated from Northwestern State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later completed her master’s +30 in School Administration. In 2018, she retired from the Natchitoches Parish School System after 33 years of service as a teacher and a school principal. The day after she retired, she began a career in library service as the Director of the Winn Parish Library. In September 2022, she accepted the position of Assistant Director at the NPL to be closer to home and her grandchild.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as the director of the NPL. I have always loved the library and believe that it should be the hub of any thriving community. Our library should serve the community and be a valued asset to promote literacy and improve the overall quality of life.
The role of a library is ever-changing. We are no longer just quiet, safe places to spend time, read, or study. We also offer a wide variety of services such as assistance in finding and applying for jobs, writing a paper, printing and laminating, help with computer skills, a meeting room available for reservation, and many other services that are too numerous to list.
If you do not know what or how to do it, visit the library.”
