Annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Natchitoches Arc

The clients and staff of the Natchitoches Arc were joined by community organizations, singers, and civic leaders as they hosted their second annual Juneteenth celebration Friday, June 9.

Singer and horn player Walter P. Lyons gave a beautiful rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” after which Nakeira White performed a dance to Cynthia Erivo’s “Stand Up”. Ms. White is a 2023 alumna of NCHS and will be attending NSU where she will be majoring in Business with a minor in Dance. The young ladies of the Dazzling Dance Divas also performed for the delighted audience. Keisha Parker read a poem. The center’s clients also sang for the crowd. The BOM Bank supplied a photo booth.

Natchitoches City Councilwoman at Large Betty Sawyer-Smith briefly spoke about the importance of the Juneteenth holiday. The event also featured an auction of original artwork by the center’s clients and staff.

The Natchitoches Arc has served our community since 1963. The art auction and Juneteenth celebration are just a few of the ways that the center’s staff serve their clients and our community.
