Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #1 responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a vehicle fire on July 14 around 7:23 am on I-49 northbound at milepost #113 near Chopin according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

 

Deputies and NPFD #1 arrived on scene finding the vehicle engulfed in flames.

 

Deputies say the operator of the 2022 Ford F-150 stated they were northbound on I-49 near Chopin when they began to see what appeared to be sparks beneath the truck then smoke. The driver pulled over to the shoulder exited and shortly thereafter observed flames calling 911 for assistance.

 

The vehicle received heavy fire damage. There were no injuries. The driver was traveling from Rayne to Texas. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Image courtesy NPFD #1.
