Lakeview JROTC Cadets complete leadership training course

Seven Lakeview High School Air Force JROTC Cadets completed the Bossier Parish Cadet Leadership Course at Grambling State University last week. They learned time management skills and how to work together as a team.  The course also challenged students to grow as individuals, to overcome personal fears, and helped them gain confidence in their ability to lead other cadets in the Cadet Corps.

During this week’s training, the students’ schedule started at 5 AM for Reville, followed by an hour of morning fitness activities before breakfast. During the remainder of their day they attended seminars which taught them various skills associated with leading the cadet corps. They also got in the water at Louisiana Tech to learn water survival skills. They completed a confidence course at Camp Minden where they had the opportunity to repel down a tower and took a trip to Barksdale Air Force Base. Every minute of the cadets’ 16.5 hour day was scheduled to the minute and culminated at 9:30pm each night.

Three of the seven cadets received awards at graduation:

Macey Jarnagin was the #1 Graduate Academically out of more than 150 cadets that traveled from 6 states

Warrick Ybarra received two awards for being a member of both the Honor Flight & Warrior Flight

Alexia Moore received recognition for being a member of the flight, which obtained the highest score during the Drill Competition.
