The City of Natchitoches announced an emergency closure of Parkway Drive on June 13 due to the presence of a leaning tree posing a hazard to traffic, located near the intersection of South Drive. The issue apparently resulted from strong winds ahead of the line of thunderstorms that moved through the area on June 10.
The leaning tree is scheduled to be removed on Wednesday, June 14 and traffic is expected to be restored on Parkway Drive sometime that afternoon.
In the interim, traffic must detour around the closure site via the network of adjacent City streets. Motorists are urged to heed all warning signs and other traffic control devices in this area.
