NSU hosts Baton Rouge Youth Coalition Senior Fellows Retreat

Fifty-four Fellows from the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC) attended a Senior Fellow Retreat at Northwestern State University this week where they participated in senior year prep workshops, completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and attended panels to discuss opportunities and expectations in higher education.  The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition helps high-achieving, under-resourced students of color convert education into personal and professional opportunities. The Senior Retreat lays the groundwork for a good senior year and builds community among the Fellows.  The seniors represented 26 high schools from throughout the greater Baton Roue area.

Northwestern State University awarded $1,000 four-year scholarships to three Fellows who participated in the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition Senior Fellow Retreat.  From left are Hall Williams III of Baton Rouge High School, Jamaria Fisher, a homeschool student, and Ja’Leah Robinson of Baron Rouge High School.  They were among 54 high school seniors who attended the BRYC senior retreat at NSU.
