NSU hosts workshop for K-12 art teachers

Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine and Graphic Art hosted a professional development program for Louisiana K-12 art teachers.  A cohort of 13 teachers from Rapides, Caddo, Natchitoches, Calcasieu and St. Landry parishes attended six art workshops and the Natchitoches-Northwestern Folk Festival and enjoyed fellowship with each other while living in Varnado Hall, the Residential College for Creative and Performing Arts. 

Workshops facilitators were Fine and Graphic Arts faculty members Jonathan Clayton, Corbin Covher and Leslie Gruesbeck. NSULA art alum Larrie King Jr. was the guest speaker and led an ice-dyeing workshop. 

The Dear School of Creative and Performings Arts, the NSU Foundation, the NSU Recruiting Office and Varnado Hall/Campus Living Villages cosponsored the workshop with the Department of Fine and Graphic Arts. 

Teachers attending were Curtis Bias, Brandy Hernsberger, Annabel Jones, Carlos McDaniels, Tammy Mierop, Sarah Newman, Shannon Paulk, Erin Parish, Allison Plunk, Erin Sitton, Catherine Stevens, Robin Waits and Lisa Wilson.
