The City of Natchitoches Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Aug. 2 at 609 Jackson Drive. Engines 1 & 2, Rescue 1, Truck 1, C1, C2. C3 and C4 responded. Upon arrival firefighters found a one story brick and wood structure with fire venting through the roof. Preconnected hoselines were pulled to attack the fire while a hydrant connection was established. It was determined after talking with bystanders and a primary search that there were no occupants inside the residence. Due to the extreme heat conditions we called in off duty firefighters and received assistance from Natchitoches Parish Fire District 6. The fire was extinguished and all equipment returned to service. A special thank you to NPD, ATMOS, the City of Natchitoches Utility crew, Natchitoches Parish Fire District 6 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Service for their assistance mitigating this emergency incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
