At its Aug. 10 meeting, the Natchitoches Parish School Board was excited to learn about a new theatre program starting in the 2023-2024 school year, which will give students experience with the performing arts. Fairview Alpha Elementary School teachers Crystal Adams and Samuel Wright both graduated from Northwestern State University’s Theatre Program and are excited to bring this opportunity to students in the area. A stage production, a musical in partnership with NSU, is scheduled to take place on May 24-25.
The production will have 20 spots that any student within the parish can audition for. Rehearsals will be held after school hours to accommodate everyone. The final performance will take place in AA Fredericks Auditorium on the NSU campus.

Approve a contract amendment to the NPSB Eccoride contract to include the following: (i) provide for a one-time increase of the Annual Upward Rate Adjustment of 5.02%, resulting in an adjusted Annual Upward Rate Adjustment of 6.87% for the current School Year Term; (ii) effective July 1, 2024, to provide for annual adjustments to the standard 1.85% Annual Upward Rate Adjustment based on regional CPI, when the May CPI for the South Region for a given School Year Term exceeds 4.00%; and (iii) remove the maximum and average age restrictions for route buses utilized by Ecco Ride to render its performance under the Agreement.
Approve budget adjustments as presented for the year ending June 30, 2023.
