I was born and raised in Natchitoches Parish and raised my two children here. Those of you that know me, know that I love my parish and helping the citizens of this Parish. I worked for the Parish Highway Department from June of 1993 until May of 2012. I worked my way up to the Assistant Director of Public Works/Solid Waste Department. I was responsible for roads, bridges, employees, and the C&D limb pit before my position was eliminated in 2012.
Then I went to work for the Department of Transportation and Development, DOTD, for the State of Louisiana as Maintenance Superintendent of Natchitoches Parish. There I was responsible for all repairs performed on state highways and bridges within the parish, including fifty-two miles of Interstate 49. I oversaw fifteen employees which were responsible for the maintenance of the roadways and right of way. After nine years, I felt it was time to retire my road department services when I could no longer benefit the residents of Natchitoches Parish in this position.
Since April of 2018 I have also worked for the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy. As a Reserve Deputy I work all over the parish, not just within District 4. When I am elected, I will do everything possible to make our roads better for the traveling public and emergency services.
I am now able to continue helping the residents of the parish by running for Parish Council District 4. I will not make a promise that I cannot follow through on, but I will do everything in my power to make Natchitoches Parish a better place to live.
Thank you for your consideration for such an important role and for your votes on October 14.
Sincerely,
Penny Niette
