City Council recognizes youth athlete for placing at National Jr. Olympics Championship

The Natchitoches City Council recognized area youth Joey Carpenter Jr. as a 2023 participant in the USATF National Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon.

He placed 17th in the 100 and 200 meter relays and 6th in the long jump, bringing a bronze metal home with him.

Over 8,000 athletes converged on Hayward Field for the Championships – the most athletes at the event in two decades.
