Outdoor burning leads to grass, woods fire on John Banks Road

 
Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Deputies, multiple units from Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #7 and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a grass/woods fire on Sept. 1 around 1:34 pm in the 300 block of John Banks Road near Robeline according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Office.
 
The caller stated that a neighbor started a fire that ignited their yard and it was endangering their residence.
 
NPFD #7 arrived on scene requesting assistance from the La Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
Firefighters and LDAF were able to contain the 4 acre fire which damaged some scrap vehicles and other items.
 
No homes were destroyed in fire.
 
Deputies cited the neighbor for Violation of the State Burn Ban.
 
There were no injuries.
 
Fire District #7 Chief Doug Birdwell said a small flame can spread quickly creating a major fire than can eventually lead to loss of property or even death.”
 
Later Friday evening, the fire reignited burning close to 20 acres. NPFD and LDAF responded to contain the fire.
 
A statewide burn ban remains in effect. Don’t Burn Anything.
