Young at Heart learns about historic sites, preservation

The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on Sept. 6 at the First United Methodist Church.

Vicki Parrish, President of the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches (APHN), gave a presentation about preserving heritage and historic sites, including the Naval Observatory, the Lincoln Memorial, Yellowstone National Park, and Melrose Plantation.  Richard Clark displayed a collection of his wildlife photography for all to enjoy.  The Faith Circle provided decorations with a football theme.

September birthdays were celebrated by Betty Whitehead, Carla Bond, and Paul Baird. A September wedding anniversary was celebrated by Burton and Sue Weaver.

Sonny Evans served as Master of Ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal.

Young at Heart meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 AM in Bostick Hall at the church. The meeting is non-denominational, and all seniors are welcome. Attendees are asked to pay a $5 fee or bring a covered dish to share.
