The Natchitoches Parish School Board voted to approve the 2023-2024 Budget at its Sept. 14 meeting.
While the budget was presented to the board in a one page document in past years, this year’s budget is 49 pages, following best practices. This includes one general fund, 24 special revenue funds, three debt service funds (Districts 7,8 and 9), and one capital project fund. The district wide capital project fund is wrapping up with the construction going on at Natchitoches Central, which should conclude this year.
Other agenda items included:
Approve the resolution for canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the special election held on April 29, 2023.
Approve option B to disseminate $2,000 and $1,000 MFP increases to certified staff and non-certified support staff and also include PreK personnel and Superintendent Secretary. To be paid as soon as possible. Must be employed as of September 30, 2023.
Approve amended Policy for Annual School Budget Funds.
Enter into executive session pursuant to La. R.S. 42:17(A)(2) to discuss its strategy and defense of the following matters: Murphy v.. NPSB, et al, Civil Action No. C-93154 on the records of the 10th Judicial District Court
Accept the recommendation of counsel with regards to captioned litigation.
Approve the revisions to the 2023-2024 NPSB Student Code of Conduct – specifically on page 14 as it relates to the fighting policy.
Approve changes to Policy GBRIB: Sick Leave.
Approve changes to Policy BE: School Board Records, with the addition of the current fee schedule.
Approve changes to Policy BEA: School Board Records: Surveillance and Security Video.
Approve changes to Policy EE: Child Nutrition Program Management.
Approve changes to Policy IDBC: Organ Donation Instruction.
