The Robotics Department at Natchitoches Junior High School received an exciting surprise. Mr. Jermaine Thomas, the Robotics instructor at NJH, submitted a grant proposal to the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce A+ Coalition during the previous summer.
The grant has been awarded for the academic year 2023-24. NJH’s Robotics program has been successfully running for two consecutive school terms, earning recognition throughout the parish.
Thomas has registered the Robotics team for upcoming competitions in the surrounding parishes, including NSU’s Annual Robotics Competition and Smart Structures Show in late November, as well as the Science Olympiad at Louisiana Tech in Ruston in January.
Reflecting on their experience at the NSU competition last year, Mr. Thomas stated, “Last year, we were just getting started with our Robotics program and spent a lot of time observing. Now that we know what to expect, we’re preparing for an even stronger competition this year!”
